During a module in the second year, we collaborated with the Schofield Watch Company. We had joint lectures where we learnt about Giles’s design process, and how to apply it to this product effectively.

During the design process we learnt that the key factors of a Schofield product is based in the story of a product. We then decided to recreate this in the watch box too by researching into coastal British folk lore consistent with the B6 watch the box is designed for.

The back of the B6 watch case has a mermaid mural, and to play into this, we designed the case to mimic a mermaid purse. This creates a cohesive unboxing process and makes the box an item to keep and cherish. The material choices also induce a sense of quality adding to the experience of the product.
